USA Journey Part VII - Antelope & Glen Canyon, Monument Valley
Am Sonntag haben wir uns unser Früchstück in Form von Donuts im Supermarkt organisiert und sind dann zum Antelope Canyon Tourbuchungsbüro nebenan gegangen.

On sunday we bought for breakfast some donuts in the grocery store and went to the booking office for the Antelope Canyon next door.

Zu diesem Canyon kommt man nur mit einer “guided tour”. Also haben wir kurzerhand eine dieser Touren für ca. 28$ gekauft. (Im Preis enthalten: Eintritt zum Navacho Gebiet). Allerdings wurden wir dafür mit einer der schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten des Urlaubs belohnt! Aber sehet selbst… Bilder sagen ja mehr als tausend Worte:

You get only to this Canyon with a guided tour, so we bought right away a tour for about 28$. (the entrance to the Navache area was included). The money was well spent, because we saw one of the most beautiful sight of the whole journey! Please have a look fo yourself… Photos tell more than thousands words:

Danach haben wir einen kurzen Abstecher zum “horse shoe bend” gemacht (eine Hufeisenformige Biegung eines Flusses). Dort haben wir einen Deutschen mit professioneller Fotoausrüstung getroffen, der uns Versprochen hat uns Abzüge seines Fotos vom “horse shoe bend” mit seiner Weitwinkellinse zuzuschicken. Hat er auch gemacht! Danke! Dann sind wir nochmal beim Glen Canyon Dam vorbei um den bei besseren Licht aus anderer Perspektive zu besichtigen:

Afterwards we made a short trip to the ‘horse shoe bend’ (it’s a part of a river which looks like that). There we met a german guy with quite professional photo gears, which told us he would send us copies of his photo. He did that, so now we have a picture made with a wide angle lense! Thanks! Then we stopped again at the Glen Canyon Dam to have a different point of view with better light:

Von dort aus sind wir auf dem Weg zum nächsten Motel durch das Monument Valley gefahren. Natürlich muss man dort auch wieder 5$ pro Person Eintritt ins Navachogebiet bezahlen. Die lohnen sich aber auch! Deswegen ein paar weitere Bilder!

From there we drove through the Monument Valley on our way to the next motel. We had to pay 5$ again to enter the Navacho reservoir but it was it worth, of course! Therefor some more pictures:

Leider ging es von unserer Vierertruppe dem Harry (2. von rechts) während der Fahrt durch das Valley nicht sehr gut. Kopfschmerzen und starke Übelkeit! Während der Fahrt zum Motel in Moab (ca. 1,5 Stunden) verschlechterte sich der Zustand so dramatisch das wir Harry ins Krankenhaus gebracht haben. Das war kein Spaß! Harry hat dann die Nacht im Krankenhaus verbracht. Sooo, wie es mit Harry weiterging und was wir am nächsten Tag gemacht haben erfahrt ihr bald im nächsten Teil ….

Unfortunately one of our four people group (Harry, 2nd from right) felt sick during our trip through the Monument Valley. Headache & very sick! During the time we need to get to our motel in Moab his condition got much worse, so we had to bring him to a hospital. Thas was no fun at all! Harry slept finally in the hospital. Oooook, how it goes on with Harry and what we did on the next day i will tell you in the next part ….
