hier der ausführliche (oder auch nicht) Bericht vom letzten Wochenende!
Am Donnerstag gings direkt nach der Arbeit nach Leppijärvi bei Humpilla (auf der Google Map). Hört sich nach Arsch der Welt an und das war es (im Prinzip) auch.

On thursday i went directly after work to Leppijärvi near Humpilla (on google map). That sounds already like nowhere, and it is basically in the middle of nothing.

Cottage & Lake

Dort angekommen wurde erstmal gegrillt und dann sauniert. Leider hat sich herrausgestellt das der See doch ziemlich sumpfig ist. Da das ein richtiges Cottage ist gabs auch kein elektrischen Strom oder fließend Wasser. Um 4 Uhr Nachts (zu bedenken: es wird nicht dunkel, nur Dämmerung) kam David auf die Idee nochmal zur in die Sauna zu gehen. Gesagt getan… gegen halb sechs sind wir dann jeweils in den Schlafsack gekrochen …

As we arrived first we did BBQ and some sauna. Unfortunately the lake was under the water not as nice a it looked like because it was quite swampy. It is of course a real cottage, so there is no electricity or fresh water. At 4 in the night (remember: it’s never getting black-dark, just a bit) David had the nice idea to go to sauna again. After sauna … about half past five we went to bed …

Am Freitag wurde direkt nach dem aufstehen das Grillfeuer entfacht (für Toast, Makarra, Gemüse usw) und eine kleine Rudertour auf dem See unternommen. Dann trafen noch ein paar weitere Leute ein! Im folgenden Sumpffußballspiel waren wir dann jeweils 6 Leute im Team. äh Moment Sumpffußbal?!? Jawoll. Heidenspaß.

On friday we fired up the BBQ directly after getting up. (for toast, Makarra, vegetables and so on)Afterwards we made a small rowing trip on the lake. Later some more people arrived! So everybody was there for the swamp-soccer with teams of 6 people. wow, one sec swampsoccer?!? Yeah,right! biiig fun.

Zuerst waren wir (die Exchange-Studenten) ziemlich skeptisch, denn es ging durch die Wildnis am See entlang zu einem sumpfigen, moosigem, weichem, feuchten Fläche. Hier spielen? Barfuß? Na schaun’ mer mal…
Hat dann aber doch richtig Spass gemacht und nach einer Weile war das Spielfeld etwas ‘zertrampelt’ sodass man teilweise mit nem kompletten Bein eingesunken ist …
Barfuß war auch so’ ne Sache da ja Grashalme ganz schön scharf sein können. Jedenfalls hatten wir danach alle mehr oder weniger zerschnittene Füße und Beine. (das Bild ganz rechts größer betrachten!)

First we were quite sceptic, because we went though the ‘jungle’ along the lake to a swampy, soft, wet place. Playing here? Barefeet? Let’s see…
But i mad a lot of fun and after a while our soccerfield was kind-of destroyed and because of that everybody was sinking from time to time with a hole leg into the swamp …
Another problem was to play barefeet because you can easily cut at the grass. Everybody had small cuts all ober the feet and legs. (see the picture on the right bigger!)

nach der Sauna | after Sauna

Nach dem Spiel gings natürlich in die Sauna. Auf den Bildern oben ist zu sehen, wie man sich am besten abkühlt ohne sich dreckig zu machen, da der See ja leider so sumpfig war. Die Sauna war natürlich Holzbefeuert und groß genug für 6 bis 8 Leute. Die Mädels haben einen Bündel Birkenzweige zusamemngebastelt womit man sich dann auf den Rücken hauen kann. (Fördert die Durchblutung!) Aber zuerst sollte man das die Zweige im Wasser einweichen lassen und dann kurz auf die heißen Ofensteine legen. Das gibt dann einen tollen Geruch in der Sauna (dafür kann man auch alternaiv Bier auf die Steine gießen!). Sehr entspannent so eine Sauna und dazwischen, davor und äh danach natürlich ein Bierchen und ne Bratwurst. Wir haben den Abed dann ganz entspannt ausklingen lassen… (allerdings etwas eher zu Bett gegangen)

After the game we went of course to sauna. On the picture here you can see how to cool down without getting quite dirty, because the lake was quite swampy. The sauna was of course with a fire oven and it was big enough for 6-8 people. The girls made a bundle of birch branches to hit yourself in the sauna. (good for the blood circulation!) But firt you have to put the bundle into the water to soak them and then lay them on the stones for a while for the good smell. (for that putting beer on the stones is also possible). Very relaxing this kind of sauna and in between, before and oh also after that we drunk beer and ate some saugages. We had a really relaxed evening … (but went bit earlier to bed)

mit Finnen Fußball gucken | watching football with finns

Am Samstag haben wir es auch ziemlich entspant angehen lassen und haben nach ein wenig Fußball, Trampolin jumping und Sauna das Match Deutschland gegen Schweden geguckt. Wir hatten das Glück das unsere Hütten ganz in der Nähe eines Motels lagen und wir dort Fußball gucken konnten. Ein par der Finninen haben sich auf die schwedische Seite geschlagen und einer der Finnen ist sogar Sportjournalist (Angehender).

Am Abend dann war traditioneller finnischer Mittsommertanz in “Leppis halli” angesagt. Wir haben uns dann vor der Halle positioniert und die Mädels haben irgendwelche finnischen Lieder gesungen um den Eintritt zu finanzieren. Wir haben tatsächlich 3,55 oder so verdient… Wir haben dann den Eintrittspreis heruntergehandelt (Besitzer/Veranstalter waren identisch mit den Motel/Laden/Kneipen Besitzern) und nur 5,50 statt 11 Euro bezahlt.

On saturday we also made a relaxed day and just played a bit soccer, jumped on a trampoline, went to sauna and watched the match Germany vs. Sweden. We had the luck to be near a motel where we could watch the game. Some of the finns where on the swedish side and one of the finns even is a sportjournalist (becomming).

In the evening was a traditional midsummer dance in ‘leppis halli’. We wnt to the entrance of the place and the girls sung some finnish songs to get some money for the entrance. we earned really 3,55 or so.. Later we bargained and got in for 5,50 instead of 11 Euro.

Drinnen angekommen erst gedacht: “Ach du Scheisse, nur alte Leute und lahme Musik!” Allerdings noch ne Menge Spass gehabt und weitere finnische Kultur und Tänze kennengelernt. Dort wurde noch richtig zum Tanz aufgefordert und die Dame danach wieder zum Platz gebracht. Natürlich gab es eine Live-Band mit der Sängerin Merjaa (lokaler Star).

After entering i thought: “Oh shit, only old people and lame music!” But we had a lot of fun there and i got some finnish culture and dances to know. There was a live band playing with the singer Merjaa (a local star).

Insgesamt ein cooles Wochenende mit viel Spass & Sauna… allerdings relativ wenig schlaf! (“schlafen kannst du an Weihnachten!”)

Tjaha, am Mittwoch war ja Sommersonnenwende... und in Finnland ist es brauch dies am Wocheende danach zu feiern. Das nennt sich dann Juhannus. Jetzt heißt es natürlich: “Was tun?”
und da haben wie richtig Schwein gehabt, sozusagen. Wir haben letztes Wochende zufällig supernette finnische Mädels kennengelernt, die uns zu einem Cottage-Weekend eingeladen haben! Wir sind meine WG und der Dani (Typ aus Valencia der auch in Pasila wohnt) werden uns heute auf den Weg nach Leppijärvi machen. juchu

Heyhey, on wednesday was solstice... and in Finland normally the weekend afterwards is to celebrate this event. The finns call it Juhannus. Now the problem is: “What to do?” and we are really lucky guys, so to say. Last weekend we met fortunatelly some nice finnish girls which invited us to a cottage weekend! With we i mean my flatmates and Dani (a guy from Valencia, living also in Pasila) are going to Leppijärvi today. yeehaa

ESN about Juhannus and summer in Finland:

Juhannus (24.6) is the most important summer day in Finland. Then is the day
here longest and the summer most beautiful. The real holiday season starts
and the whole Finland closes, as the people migrate to their summer
cottages. There are a lot of traditions for Juhannus, here some of them.
First of all, go to the countryside. There you will sense Juhannus as its
best. If that is not possible and you are stuck in Helsinki, Seurasari is a
good option with the big Juhannusjuhla (from about 17.00 to midnight)
including bonfires, folk dance, crafts, a wedding – all that there should be
(one disadvantage – quite hign entrace fee).
About the traditions:
-Kokko = bonfire. Familes start to build bonfires already a few days
earlier to make sure that they are big enough. In the Midsummer eve
night the bonfires are lit and they burn as long as possible. There is
hardly anything as beautiful as a lake and a dozen of bonfires
reflecting to the water in the shores.
-Taiat = witchcraft. Juhannus is a magical night. In the old times
there were a lot of spells to do, especially for love. The best is
this: A girl should get 7 different wild flowers, put them under her
pillow and be quiet. When she sleeps, she will see her future husband
in her dreams.
-Juhannuskoivut = birches. It is an old tradition to put young birches
on each side of the main door. Also boats are decorated with tree
branches and leaves.
-Juhannussalko = Midsummer pole. Especially in Swedish speaking regions. A
high pole decorated with leaves, ribbons, crafted articles etc.
-Juhannushäät = Midsummerwedding. Many couples get married during the
Midsummer weekend. And even more babies get born in March.
-Liputus = flagging. Juhannus is also the day of the Finnish flag.
Therefore we flag the whole night thru.
-Juhannusjuhlat = parties. People, get together and have fun! Dance,
eat, drink, watch bonfires, go to festivals, sweat in sauna. Taste
first new potatoes with butter, dill and herring. Enjoy the Finnish
summer.

So, nach kleiner Durststrecke in diesem Blog mal wiederwas neues …

Gestern bin ich um 6:30 zum Bahnhof zu Osnabrück und um ca. 16 Uhr in Pasila in meiner neuen Wohnung angekommen. Marc mein neuer Mitbewohner hat mich direkt herumgeführt und mich mit dem wichtigsten Vertraut gemacht. David war gerade arbeiten und Hennes ist zur Zeit ausgeflogen. (in good ol’Germany ist der Mann)

Erstmal eingerichtet und Sachen in den Schrank gepackt, ein wenig auf der Couch im Wohnzimmer vorm TV gepflätzt und Fußball geglotzt. Allerdings auch noch Krams für die Arbeit vorbereitet.
So jetzt habe ich aber genug vom tipsen.. war heute relativ anstrengender Tag (hab schon ein paar Sachen aus Laia’s Wohnung geholt und ca 9 Stunden geschuftet.)

Hey, after a short break finally some new stuff in this blog …

Yesterday i went at 6:30 to the trainstation in Osnabrück and around 4 in the afternoon i arrived in Pasila in my new flat. Marc my new flatmate showed me directly the most important stuff in the flat. David was at work that time and Hennes in for some weeks in good old germany.

First i settled down a bit, put my cloth in the closet, sat on the soa in the livingroom in front of TV watching some world championchip. But i also prepare a bit for work.
Ok enough sitting in front of the computer.. today was quite long day (have already some of my stuff from Laias flat here and i worked around 9 hours.)

So jetzt ist ja die Erasmus-Zeit offiziel beendet. schnüff

Allerdings haben vier meiner Mitstudenten eine wirklich coole DVD erstellt. Diese DVD enthält eine Menge Videos von Parties, Trips, Ereignissen und Orten des letzten Jahres, zusammengestellt aus dem Material vieler Studenten.

Die Jungs sehe ich ja am Wochende, Familen-geburtstags-nach-feier steht morgen an und ein Hollandbesuch steht auch aufem Plan. Dazwischen kommt noch arbeit auf mich zu (nein im Prinzip ist das kein Urlaub hier) und auf eine Hochzeitsfeier freue ich mich auch schon ganz dolle. Danach gehts dann schon wieder zurück nach Helsinki … (muss um 6:00 am Osna-Bahnhof sein, glücklicherweise habe ich einen Tag zum erholen nach der Party!)

ok, now i am back in germany, but almost every day is already scheduled.

I will see the guys on weekend, the birthday-party-for-family is tomorrow and a short visit in netherlands is also planed. Unfortunately i have to work here (so it’S not really a holiday here) and i am looking forward to a nice wedding party. After that i fly back to Helsinki … (have to be at the osna trainstation at 6:00 luckily i have one day to recover from the party)
