Am Dienstag ging es los. Die erste Verabschiedung von vielen. Am Dienstag haben wir eine kleine Saunaparty veranstaltet und zwei kleine fünf Liter Bierfässer geleert. Danach gings dann ins BarFly. Im Zug zurück war dann verabschieden von Maria und Cobito angesagt …

Am Mittwochabend wurde die “Finland We did it all” DVD vorgeführt und gegenseitig Flaggen unterschrieben. Der Abend wurde dann in José’s Flat ausklingen gelassen und Patri, Alois und Sergio hatten ihren Flug am nächsten Tag.

Direkt am nächsten Tag standen wieder Verabschiedungen auf dem Programm. Es ging ins BarFly (mal wieder) um Fanny, Claire, Julie und Rudolph auf Wiedersehen zu sagen …

Am Freitag dann wurde ein nettes BBQ in Leppävaara veranstaltet als Farewellparty für Ruben & Antonio! Im Prinzip auch der letzte Abend für Antje und Katja die dann allerdings erst am Sonntag gefahren sind.

Vorgestern war dann Verabschieden von José angesagt, da er seinen Flug gestern Morgen hatte…

Ja, es wird ruhiger in Timpurinkuja und weitere Verabschiedungen stehen noch bevor.

Ausserdem gibt es Neuigkeiten von der Arbeit. Ich habe von Icareus, die Firma wo ich mein Abschlussprojekt durchgeführt habe, am Freitag ein Jobangebot für den Sommer (bis Ende Juli oder August) bekommen und habe angenommen! Das heißt konkret das ich morgen mit dem nächsten Projekt anfange …
Allerdings werde ich für kurze Zeit Deutschland besuchen. (Vorraussichtlich vom 31. Mai bis 10. Juni)

There are also some news from work. I got from Icareus, the company i did my final year project, a job offer last friday for the summer (till end of july or august) and i accepted it! That means i will start a new project already tomorrow …
But i will do a short visit to germany. (I think it will be from 31 may to 10 june)

Wettervorhersage hat gelogen. Es ist 22 Grad. (genau wie gestern und Freitag!) Also kurze Hose und T-Shirt.

Weatherforecast was lying. It is 22 degrees celsius. (same as yesterday and friday!) That means shorts and t-shirt.

Heute gehts um den 1. Mai hier in Finnland. Also Vappu (1. Mai) ist hier ne riesen Sache. Am Freitag davor habe ich zum Beispiel eine Gruppe Kindergartenkinder gesehen die lustig verkleidet unterwegs waren. Dann gab es Freitag und Samstag pre-Vappu Parties organisiert von verschiedenen Studentenorganisationen.

Richtig los gehts dann am 30. April. Wir sind ca. 1 Uhr zu Kaisaniemi (einem Park neben dem Hauptbahnhof gelegen) zum EVTEK Studententreffen und haben uns Studenten-Saufspiele angeschaut und uns auch das eine oder andere Bier gegönnt.

Today i write about the 1st. of May here in Finland. Ok, Vappu* (1st May) is a big thing here. I saw on friday a group of children in kindergarden age in some funny costums. There were also some pre Vappu parties organised by different students organisations of course.

The real start of Vppu is on the 30th of April. We went around 1 o’clock to Kaisaniemi (a parc next to main railway station) to a EVTEK student meet up and watched some stupid games and enjoyed one or some more beer.

Um ca. 5 Uhr sind wir dann zum Hafen zur Amanda genannten Statue. Die wird nämlich von den Studenten geputzt und bekommt die ‘Studentenmütze’ aufgesetzt. Die Esplanadi war rappelvoll mit Leuten die sich alle ihre weiße Käppi ausetzten. (In Finland ist es Tradition das jeder Schulabsolvent eine weiße Mütze bekommt. )

We went around 5 o’clock to the harbour where the Amanda statue is. That statue is washed by the student and get a student cap on his head. The Esplanadi was really crowded with people wearing thier hats. (It is tradition in Finland that every student get a white hat at the end of school.)

Von dort aus haben wir uns in einen Park aufgemacht um etwas zu Essen und den Rest des sonnigen Tages zu genießen. Später sind wir dann zum Onnela gegangen und dort die Party fortgesetzt.
Ich habe dann beschlossen mich eher auf den Heimweg zu machen und bin dann im Zug eingeschlafen und ein paar Stationen weiter in Espoo-Keskus aufgewacht. Damn! Zum Glück war dort eine Imbissbude und Züge zurück zu Leppävaara vorhanden.

Das ist aber noch nicht alles … am 1. Mai (Montag) war dann Picknick in Koivopuisto angesagt.

From there we went to a small parc to eat adn enjoy the rest of the sunny day. Later we went to Onnela and continued the party there …
I decided to go earlier home and fell asleep inside the train and woke up some station to late in Espoo-Keskus. Damn! Luckily there was a small fast food shop and some trains back home.

But that’s not all… on 1st of may (monday) a picnic in Koivopuisto is a must-see event!

Das ist ein großer Park in Helsinki mit Blick auf Suomenlinna. Dort angekommen ca. 1 Uhr bot sich ein aussergewöhnlicher Anblick. Der Park war komplett gefüllt mit Leuten aller Altersklassen mit den weißen Studenten/Schüler Kappis und machen Frühstück. Teilweise mit Tisch, Gläser, Sekt und allem drum und drann. Natürlich auch jede Menge Studenten in ihren Overalls oder anderen Kostümen

That’s in a big parc in Helsinki downtown with the view to Suomenlinna. Arrived ther around 1 we saw something extraordinary. The parc was crowded with people in every age and the white hats doing picnic. Some even brought table, chairs, glasses for sparkling wine and so on. We saw also a lot of students in their overalls or other costumes
